In her own words.
Véronique uses one precise word for the last two years: transparent. “In shops, in meetings, in the street. People look straight through you. And the worst part is that you end up looking through yourself too.”
She didn't come to be made to look younger. She said so straight away, almost fiercely: “If this is about making me look forty, I'm leaving.”
The morning's conversation was about what nobody talks about: a body that changes without warning, the sleepless nights, the way other people's eyes move elsewhere. And about anger — a great deal of anger.
When the shoot began, the photographer suggested she tie her hair back. Véronique said no. “It sounds like nothing. For me it was enormous. I'd spent two years trying to hide it.”
